It’s time to go back to the pedals. For those who were waiting for the summer, this is a time where the temperatures rise and the wind begins to blow strong at the Northeastern part of the South American continent, while the last rains insist on weting the roads. Of course there are those cyclists who had other goals earlier on the year and were cycling in spite of the weather conditions or even indoors since the early months of the year. For you all, it’s time to realize the challenge that is about to come.
This year we come to the sixth edition of this unique bike race. Desafio 24h means “24 hours Challenge”! Looking back to 2003, I remember our motivation and drive. Anxiety and fear. A mix of sensations that made part of the first ultra cycling event in Brazil. It was finally the time to the dream come true. A dream that began years earlier during my fourth RAAM, in 2001.
Eighty six brave riders stood at the start line for the first Desafio 24h! The heat and humidity together with the strong and constant wind at Porto das Dunas village weren’t enough to bring those brave cyclists down during the whole day long. At the race, back then still on a 21k lap, those teams barely knew that they about to make history. All the difficulties endured by every single one during the long day and night during that weekend, made them overcome their limits and reach the finish line.
The years have passed. We faced some obstacles, changed the course to garantee complete safety for the teams, improovements on the race village, the start of the solo category, electronic timing and all the memorable duels among the four riders relay teams. Something didn’t change though. We kept on feeling the same passion and drive since the first edition.
In 2007 came the international recognition. The only South and Latin American RAAM qualifying race. One of the Ultra Cycling World Cup events. The record solo roster, the entry of the first two solo women.
To find the best team members, crew and define all the logistics is crucial to garantee the best perfomance. The heat, wind and the course profile are already major difficulties to worry with.
This year, by the 15th and 16th November, you’re going to have the opportunity to live again all the Desafio 24h emotions. At the same 13k course lap along the magnificient Porto das Dunas coastline, at the Beach Park Resort, the biggest South America’s water park, the competitors will face the biggest Desafio ever.
Solo or relay teams of 2, 4 or 6 riders. Twenty four or 12 hours straight. The teams will have all facilities needed within the race village. Tents, water, mechanics, massage therapists at footsteps from the Beach Park Suites Resort and a white sand beach.
The feared “Beach Park Climb” and the sleep deprivation. A whole memorable experience for you, your companios and your family, sided by white sand beaches and dunes, awaits you. Feel the Brazilian spirit and hospitality, competing at a world class event. Gather your team and be prepared. The Desafio 24h 2008 is set!

The unique cycling adventure in Brazil since 2003, it has the Porto das Dunas paradisiac venue as a background, located only 16k from Fortaleza International Airport. The perfect scenario for holidays, this coastline is very popular for its warm temperatures and sunny days the whole year long.
Solo or teams can choose from various categories: 2, 4 or 6 riders - male, female or mixed.
Entry level or cycling enthusiasts can also experience the Desafio 24h at its best. The same course and competition, for the half of the time. A great challenge without the night time hours. This category is open for 4 and 6 riders teams only.
The Desafio 24h reaches its 6th edition confirming the previous years successes, gathering both amateurs and professional cyclists from all over Brazil and abroad. Rob Kish (3 times RAAM winner and Record holder), Luciano Pagliarini ( former Saunier Duval Scott Pro Tour cyclist), Cláudio Clarindo and Julio Patterlini (RAAM solo finishers) and many others have experienced.
Complete race structure, beautiful scenary, riding safety and a competitive field backened by the Beach Park Resort, garantee the best travel and sporting experience altogether.
